About
With a quick wit, a versitile flow and a sharp delivery, this charasmatic young MC is steadily making his way to the top of the list of up-and-coming Hip Hop artists. His story begins in the streets of Harlem, where his young parents grew up during the pioneering days of Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow and the Rock Steady Crew.
Born in 1984 Faheem Islam aka Young Scheme developed his sense of Hip Hop music and culture from his producer/engineer/manager/father, while capturing the artistic and creative talents of his mother. A natural athelete, Scheme has also been an extremely well-respected basketball player and avid songwriter and poet since elementary school.
Coming up in neighborhoods as diverse as a middle class but crack-infested section of Harlem, the suburbs of the "dirty" south streets of Atlanta, and the beach-lined ghettos of Newport, RI, "General" Scheme developed a wide spectrum of cultural perspectives and life situations.
Scheme started rhyming at age 16 when his cousin Ox, himself a well respected young rapper from the Bronx, heard him spit for the first time and encouraged him to continue writing and sharpening his skills. Shortly afterward, Ox and Scheme formed the rap duo Outta Town ("O.T.") and started blazing mixtapes all over the east coast. O.T. released their debut album "Setup Shop" in 2002, which featured the hit single and video "It's a Wrap". The single's low-budget, straight to cable video created a major buzz for the freshmen rappers and scored them an appearance in the smash underground hit DVD Night Sessions "Nuthin To Lose" featuring 50 Cent, Cam'Ron, D-Block and other stars. This classic DVD featuring Young Scheme starring in it's intro video also pioneered the now popular genre of DVD magazines and won Vibe Magazine's best underground DVD that year. After the release of their successful debut, Ox strted to get caught up in street life and decided that joining the military would a better option than jail time or worse.
Always on the grind, Scheme holds the fort down like a General as he continues his mission of bringing true lyricism, skills and a love of Hip Hop culture to the rap game.
