From lyrically reporting the harsh realities of the streets to showing appreciation for beautiful women worldwide, everything the New Orleans-based trio, the Youngest 1s, does is from the heart. And with their realness and artistry being rewarded with overwhelming support from thousands of fans who multiply daily, this burgeoning rap group stays grounded on one principle: family. "This group is my family, D-Danger, 21, said about his Youngest 1s collective. "Me, Killa Da King and Supa D are all cousins, and we group up together in New Orleans." With hit tracks like "Outta My Mind" and chart-topper "She Knows", D-Danger (Devphn Pichon), Killa Da King (Kieron Martin, 19), and Supa D (Dave Avery, 22) are mentally prepared for the adversity fame can bring, including disband rap groups like their local idols of yesteryear, Cash Money Records' Hot Boys. "We are really blood; this is real life. We have different styles and all that, but we are never breaking up," Danger added assertively. After growing up in the St. Bernard projects, the Youngest 1s were always together, which eventually led to their group moniker. "We were the youngest ones to do everything," Supa D explained. We were the youngest to stay fly. Everything happened naturally." They were also the youngest ones to make a wise decision: choose music over the streets. In New Orleans, avoiding lawlessness can be extremely difficult for youth, but with seven years into the rap game, constant tours and thousands of radio spins worldwide, it's evident that the Youngest 1s chose the right path. After ripping a show where they opened for platinum crooner Akon in Columbus, Ga., the Youngest 1s finally got a chance to head home and relax at their favorite hangout, Goretti Park, just minutes away from the Zero to Sixty studio in Downtown New Orleans. Surrounded by friends and loved ones, they received some inspiring news: Zero to Sixty CEO Fat Mac reported that the current queen of rap Nicki Minaj showed love for the Youngest 1s by tweeting "They Are Next." To garner accolades from someone of Minaj's stature who singlehandedly influences millions, the Youngest 1s are inevitably headed for stardom. And although there are three members in the Youngest 1s, they reassure Goretti Park, New Orleans and especially their family that everyone is taking the journey with them to the top.
