About
A Chicago-born lyricist, Dometi “The Prophecy,” has been writing music since the age of 6. However, he began to seriously produce and distribute his work as early as middle school. His achievements and awards are vast as he’s been recognized for his performances at various universities and venues in the Midwest including Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, venues in Minneapolis, MN, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois Springfield and University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, just to name a few.
His lyrical content, slick delivery and ability to rock a crowd has earned him the opportunity to perform alongside Cory Gunz, Paul Wall and Chalie Boy. His music has also been heard in major U.S. cities including Chicago’s Power 92 (“On Ten”) and St. Louis’s 104.1 (“Get It Jukin”). His songs have also been featured in movies. Most recently, Dance Fu, directed by Cedric The Entertainer, features Dometi’s record in the opening scenes.
Most listeners note and identify with his versatility and dedication to meaningful, expressive lyrics. Dometi’s music spans from socially conscious subject matter to high energy club bangers all while maintaining his message in every track. His music, and life, took a turn for the better when he gave his life to Christ in 2008. His music still retains its grittiness while incorporating overtones of spirituality and Scripture. Dometi’s music and message epitomizes “Music You Feel.”
In 2011, he joined the Blue ink Promotional Group, LLc. as their newcomer Blue ink Poet. Since then he has opened for the likes of Dave Hollister, performed throughout the Twin Cities, and is working with the Blue ink leadership to develop their Blue ink poet initiative for 2013.
This is just the beginning to what is the much anticipated success that Dometi “The Prophecy."
The only question is… Are you ready for “The Prophecy.”
