Artist Bio: M.D.G, government name Marcus Derek Galloway, is a multi-talented artist and engineer in his mid-twenties who was born in Georgia and moved to Chicago around the age of 12. It was a move that neither him nor his family knew would take the toll it did. But all is never lost. M.D.G's story follows a unique curve; One that includes drugs, prison, homelessness, success, as well as the everyday ups and downs that come with life. It is precisely the polarized nature of his life experience (success and then failure, too many homes and then none at all) that give him such a creative outlook. Having lived so many places around the Chicago land area, M.D.G.'s diversified flow is distinct and stands alone. Having started out as young child writing poems, M.D.G.'s performance career started out early, being published through after winning writing contests in gradeschool. M.D.G started taking music seriously while serving a 5 year prison sentence in the Illinois Dept. of Corrections. Where he motivated himself to pass the time by writing two songs a day and making the best of a nasty situation.But writing music wasn't his only focus. He became interested in the business aspects of the music industry as well and taught himself everything he could by taking college courses from his cell. Upon his release from incarceration in 2009, M.D.G set out to start a career in the music industry by building a small recording space in his bed room and never looking back. Not only is M.D.G on his way to living his dream as an artist and songwriter, he has also developed a distinguished list of skills and connections to rival that of any artist/engineer/producer/record label. He now currently helps his recording family run one of Chicago's up and coming recording studios and companies, Mystery Street Recording Co. With his first official project under wraps, A Young Reality...A Dedication to Cory Buck, M.D.G is already planning his next full lenthg project, and looking forward with the momentum to carry him through several more. A blend of street and educational sense sets M.D.G. up to distinguish himself from anything you have ever seen in the urban/hip hop community. His music is life experiences on top of up-tempo catchy hooks. His sound is a traditional Chicago flow tinged with the dirty south and washed down with a bit of the unorthodox.
