Songwriter and producer JaWaan LaRue grew up in Seattle. His experience, knowledge, work ethic, and ability to continually improve makes him hot in todays market. LaRue has managed to achieve notable heights especially in social media as he won an international song writing contest hosted by producer Kay Tenko from London. Other producers he’s worked with internationally include: Mehdi Bubolote – France, Marcus D – Japan, and Fayrouz Ben Yedder Neemah – Switzerland as well as Rising Son – Seattle, Phree Will – Seattle, Intylekt – Seattle, Saxi XL – North Carolina, and many more. LaRue has made several appearances on the “Afro Disiac Radio” show, based out of the United Kingdom, where his music is spun in regular rotation. LaRue has participated in Seattle’s Got Green Movement as well as participated in several different fundraisers and charity events with Conscious Mind Records. On October 20, 2012 LaRue was selected by the American Cancer Society to perform in the Orlando 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k walk event (attendance 40,000 people). He served in the US Army, including 1 tour in the middle east.
His first solo album titled “I Can Only Be Me” caught fire on Seattle radio airwaves. Within 2 weeks time it was aired on the following stations: Kube 93.3 FM, KEXP Street Sounds 90.3 FM, University Of Washington Rainy Dawg FM, KBCS 91.3 FM, Free Mix Radio (Online out of Washington D.C.), and Zulu Radio. He’s also appeared on Soul City Radio – Baltimore, The Mosaic Show – Baltimore, Juice Radio – Seattle, Evergreen Community College Radio – Seattle, Seattle Central Radio – Seattle, Rollins College Radio – Orlando, Heartbeat Radio – Orlando, and appeared in FMainstream Magazine. The Seattle Times, and the Seattle Stranger wrote articles about this new up and coming artist buzzing around town.
In 2010 LaRue made the decision to produce only clean music following his sophomore theme album release “Saturn Returns”. The single “Rise Up” changed his outlook on everything and inspired him to create positive music for his fans. The albums sold 3500 copies independently and opened doors of opportunity. In 2011 LaRue relocated to Orlando Florida and signed with Conscious Mind Records, 2012 Soul Of The City Record Label of the year. Currently LaRue is pursuing his Entertainment Business Degree and actively working on his 3rd solo album titled “Unconditional”. He has headlined in Tampa, Orlando, and Miami as well as appeared on local radio.
