Donney Rose, a Baton Rouge native and active member of the city’s poetry scene, has been performing spoken word since 1999. Donney has been a member of seven Baton Rouge national slam teams and was also a member of Baton Rouge’s 2003 Southern Fried Regional’s championship team. In 2012 he became Eclectic Truth Poetry Slam’s Individual Grand Slam Champion and Baton Rouge’s representative for the 2012 Individual World Poetry Slam. He works as a teaching artist with WordPlay Teen Writing Project and is the program director for an arts-based non-profit, Forward Arts Inc. He has recorded three spoken word CDs and authored one chapbook
