At the tender age of 10, Canadian DJ Dan Steel got his first glimpse and inspiration of Hip Hop. The creative flow and soulful tracks of 80s Hip Hop Exposure to the ‘Breakdancing’ scene, and Watching the classic movie “Krush Groove”Inspired him into his love for Hip Hop. After hearing the masterful, smooth style of LL Cool J and his street classic ‘I can’t live without my radio’, Steel was wowed andpursued his Dream within the Hip Hop world To become a DJ. He was deeply inspired by the legendary movies, ‘Beat Street’, and ‘Breakin’, so much that he broke into break dancing and hip hop dancing at a local Boys & Girls Club, where he Stayed focused on Music and out of trouble. Dan Steel later discovered himself becoming a lot more fascinated with djing. He spent much of his time watching DJs spin Hip Hop on vinyl. Dan Steels first glimpse of djing was Seeing djs spin on the first pair of ‘Technics 1200’ turntables. He was overcome by the ‘Technics’ equipment, because he had only seen them on TV It Was Grandmaster DXT with Herbie Hancocks Music Video for Rockit that inspired him. The art of Djing influenced him so much that he began mixing at the local Boys & Girls club at the age of 16! Steel saved and sacrificed for 3 months to purchase his first pair of ‘Technics 1200mk2’ turntables. As time went on, From the 80s onward, he Perforned in bigger venues like, ‘The Downstairs Club’, where he Deejayed for the rap group ‘Duxe’, also a spot where his homeboy Jay Sparks (Sparxx Vizion) was part of. ‘The Mercury Lounge’, ‘Sin’, ‘Bulldog’,‘Café Dekuf’, and ‘Firestation’, were also some of the happening night spots where he spun his Wheels of Steel. DJ DAN Steel also kept the people jumping while doing private events, such as, weddings, parties, as well as with his unique variety of mixtapes his childhood buddy, Mitch Stone (DJ, sound engineer), to become part of ‘Barn of Yard Radio’ to spin on ‘The Wheels of Steel Mix show. Today, in 2013, DJ Dan Steel says he still gets excited just like he did back in the day, when he spins the turntables.
