Gary Lucas jr (born august 17th, 1988), better known by his stage name JOYNER LUCAS, is an American rapper, producer, actor and director. He has been involved in music all his life as his father is a music artist and producer. Born in Worcester Massachusetts, Joyner began rapping at the age of 7 and recorded his first song at 10 years old and a few years later knew this was his calling in life. He currently lives in Tampa, FL on a mission to help his dreams become a reality. Currently, Joyner Lucas is working on an album titled “LFO’s.” This stands for low frequency oscillators and is a key factor in dubstep and other electronic music. Though his music is not dubstep, there are real influences of this style in the album. He wants this album to have a very current sound in comparison to “Listen 2 me” which became available in March of 2012 as a free download and had more of a 90’s feel to it. What sets Joyner Lucas apart from other artists is that he is focused on the real issues that people go through and is “the voice of the struggle.” Rather than focus on fake or superficial issues, he looks at exposing issues that people are facing every day, from homelessness to poverty and much more. In this way, his music is timeless because there will always be these issues that people in the world face, though it may not have the same context. His goal is to stand apart from the mediocrity in the music industry. Joyner Lucas does not want to be remembered simply for amazing beats, but for music that has a real substance that will impact you right to the soul; to fill the void that is missing in rap and much of the music industry today. Joyner Lucas is currently signed to GIG Music group and his newest album (LFO's) should be finished by the end of the year, though there is no tentative date set yet for its release
